We celebrate 25 years of the Arup Journal in this issue, beginning with a foreword from our Chairman Povl Ahm. We include Peter Dunican’s Presidential Address to the Institution of Structural Engineers discussing the social and political implications of structural engineering and we look closely at the structure of Stanstead Airport Terminal.

The Arup Journal is now beginning its 25th year - and we look to cover a wide range of projects both big and small.

Having been appointed as the consulting civil and structural engineers for the new Stanstead Airport Terminal building in 1981, we look at the work to deliver the stunning new building with a potential capacity of 15m passengers per year.

Further afield, we showcase our work for the Riyadh Diplomatic Quarter Sports Club, the design of the Liffey Valley Bride in Ireland and our involvement with a number of farms in Nigeria.
